PLEASE HELP US HELP THIS POOR PUP

Cataract in one eye
Beautiful little girl
Close-up
This five-month old Labrador puppy was sent to be put to sleep by her new owners after they found that she was blind. She has cataract in one eye and has very minimal sight in the other. She is a very loving pup and we strongly believe that she should be given a chance to live. She is being cared for by one of our friends after we felt that she would be better in a home environment than in our half-way-home. We are hoping to surgically restore her sight at least in one eye but have been told that the procedure is rather expensive. Given this, we implore you to help us help this poor little girl.

How much do you need for this surgery?

We were told it will cost us at least RM5,000 per eye. That's why we have decided that surgery in one eye will suffice.

I think it would be better to find out why she is blind in the first place so you know the procedure will be effective. Also, dogs do adapt better than humans to being blind, i think a good home with caring and truly understaning people would be better for her rather than surgery and ppl who adopt her just because she is a purebreed dog who has a sad story

Especially since she got cataracts at suCh a young age, even after surety the likelihood of recurrence would be high

There is no chance for cataracts to recur after surgery. Cataract is the thickening of the optic lense. During surgery this lense is removed and replaced with an artificial one.

Depends if that if that's what the institute does instead of using a different technique

If it is permanent it would be much better for the dog though

I think that is the only technique available for cataract here. Cataracts are permanent.

Same surgery on human eye costs around RM2,000 to RM6,000 per eye depending on the type of lens. How come it's so costly for dogs?

Dogs dont have insurance :(

Demand and supply. Simple economics. There is great demand for human lense but i believe special orders are required for doggie lense, hence the price.

Hi, I am from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Here the treatment of dogs has escalated to levels so barbaric that we can't even start controlling the massacre of stray animals. The KK municipality believe that the only way to keep the population of strays is by brute force and severe injury. They often resort to constricting he poor animals in bags and bludgeoning them or leaving them to bleed to death. Once that is done, they would send the dogs to the crocodile farm or to restaurants that serve their meat. Unfortunately, the local newspapers and the high commitee of SPCA KK cannot voice out this horrific treatment of animals for they could be cast aside and left forlorn, thus making our group unable to help salvage the situation. To add to the misery, the village people here who cant afford to fence their homes have to bear with the agony of losing their pets on a frequent basis to such heartless people. The workers of the municipality always get away with their sinful acts, and knowing the authorities, once they read this, would demand evidence of their acts, knowing clearly well that the witnesses are in their hands. If there was only a way to put an end to this endless slaughtering of innocent animals we would appreciate i. Thank you.

what was the cause for such early onset of cataract? did you do genetic testing? cataract reflects blue in the camera's flash. how come her right eye reflects red?

if she is otherwise healthy, why would someone want to put her down?

was she rescued from a pet shop or from an owner?? this part is confusing because you said you rescued her from a pet shop, but the previous owners wanted to put her down due to her blindness.

i wouldn't mind giving her a loving home as I have another dog who is in desperate need of a calm companion.
