DIRECTIVE FROM CDII
The directors of Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII), that had kindly launched the MDDB and MCCP projects for us, have sent us a directive to either disable or moderate the comments column. They have stated in a strongly worded letter that we are stupid to allow people to openly sabotage us. We have managed to convince them not to disable the comments and they have agreed provided that we moderate them. Given this and the fact that we depend on CDII to provide us a legal platform to do our rescue work - we have no other choice but to comply. However, we will set-up a separate blog where our critics as well as supporters can post open unmoderated comments as we believe in freedom of expression. That blog will be given another name and no mention of CDII will me made on it. Those who want to comment can also do so on our Facebook page. The Hatchet person has also taken on to impersonating us on the dialogue box and saying nasty things to people who have posted there. Their first victim is Littlelit who informed us of an accident victim. These morons, who have no compassion for animals, will try everything they can think off to sabotage us. It will not work. However, we urge you to call any one of the three numbers stated on the blog interface in the event there is an emergency.

STUPIDO

FROM DOGMEAT .ORG
Veterinary Services Department (DVS) deputy directorgeneral, Datuk Dr Ahmad Suhaimi Omar, suggests that stray dogs held at pounds be sold for human consumption as a method of stray management.
There has been many rumblings for some time now that the dogs were indeed being sold at the pounds. But we have no proof. But anyone worth his or her salt would know that no dog meat restaurant owner, who is in his right frame of mind, would dare serve his customers stray dogs with questionable health issues.
Is this why pet dogs and pedigrees are targeted - so that there is assurance that they have 'healthy' meat to serve their customers?
This is a point to ponder - has Ahmad Suhaimi let the cat out of the bag and not merely made a suggestion as everyone is made to believe?
Thanks to Siti Ruqayyah Chan for bringing this link to attention.

China is mulling at passing legislation to counter this and Ahmad Suhaimi Omar wants dog eating to be a norm here.
Does he want our Malaysian community to regress?
Does he want to promote what we see in the link here in Malaysia?
Shame on you Ahmad Suhaimi Omar, shame on you!

Transit Home
MALAYSIAN DOGS DESERVE BETTER TRANSIT HOME

Dear all,
we have finally decided that it is time we get ourselves a transit home due to the huge number of puppies we rescue almost daily.
We now have a place to keep our puppies pending adoption and this arrangement is much cheaper than having to board them at veterinary clinics.
However, we now have to ensure that we have sufficient money to pay the rental as well as the person who is taking care of the puppies and the utilities as we use a lot of water to clean-up daily.
Our monthly expenses are:
Rental RM 600
Helper's allowance RM500
Utilities (water and electricity) RM100
Therefore we have to have a steady contribution of RM1,200 in addition to having to pay the vets for vaccinations and other health complications that may arise.
Sometimes the puppies we rescue come in with severe skin disorders and this requires extra treatment.
Therefore we are appealing for a regular monthly contribution from all those who can help us. Even RM50 monthly will go a long way.
Please help us help the puppies and dogs.

This is the current print for our T-Shirts - it is sold at RM35 each. The first print cost us RM27 per T-Shirt and this means RM8 would go into our funds. Since it was too expensive - we did not print 100 as planned earlier but only 40. Therefore there may be a little waiting time for T-shirts as we would need to get reprints.
Please call 019-3576477 f0r orders.

OUR LETTER
POPIKO MAIL

Malaysian canines deserve better
Malaysian Dog Nov 19, 08 4:22pm
I refer to the letter Dog-catching: Malaysia's reputation at risk.
As an independent animal rescuer, I am very glad that we have caught the attention of the writer who is with the London-based Mayhew Animal Home & Humane Education Centre's international department.
My fervent wish is that Hogan would now consider venturing into Malaysia to help homeless animals like what his department does in Russia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
I am imploring Hogan to do so as I, like other independent animal rescuers, can no longer emotionally handle seeing stray animals, especially dogs, undergoing tortuous lives here.
Unless an established organisation like the Mayhew Animal Home & Humane Education Centre comes into the picture, the situation in Malaysia in regard to the treatment of strays will remain the same.
For the record, following an article in a local English daily about the dog which was brutalised by the MPSJ dog-catchers, about RM4, 000 has been raised to go towards its welfare.
A well-wisher had also paid the compound and rescued the dog and its companion from the Puchong dog pound and both canines are now recuperating at a veterinary clinic.
The money donated by so many kindhearted people, who were equally disturbed as us with what had happened to the dog, will go towards the medical care, vaccination, de-worming, neutering as well as accommodation charges for both dogs until they are ready for adoption in a few months time.
Thanks to the two young dedicated veterinarians who are looking after the dogs, the injured canine, which is still traumatised, is slowly beginning to respond to them.
I am also certain that many Malaysians are unaware that there are a good number of independent dog rescuers here who use their own resources to save many of these dogs from the clutches of death.
Most of them compromise on their own needs as whatever they earn goes towards their cause.
All these indicate that in the event Mayhew Animal Home & Humane Education Centre decides to venture into Malaysia, the organisation would receive overwhelming support from people who care about the welfare of these strays.
So, please, please seriously consider coming to Malaysia not only to save our strays but to also give us independent animal rescuers hope that better days are ahead for these unfortunate animals.
