ADOPTION DRIVE THIS WEEKEND

MODEL NOT FOR ADOPTION.

SEGAMBUT MP Lim Lip Eng strongly believes that his services as an elected representative must also cover the voiceless.
Given this the DAP MP will host an adoption drive at his service center at Jalan Kuching for canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) this Sunday between 11.30am to 6.00pm.
His service center is at 22A (1st Floor), Jalan Jambu Mawar off Jalan Kuching, Taman City, 51200 Kuala Lumpur.
“I know that there is a high number of dogs and puppies in need of homes and the problems faced by rescue groups in trying to rehome them,’’ said Lim.
He added this was the main factor why he is hosting an adoption drive for MDDB for the second time this year.
Meanwhile, Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII) (which had launched the MDDB canine welfare project) director Firoza Burhanudeen thanked Lim and said several elected representatives had helped the welfare project host adoptions throughout the years.
“We truly appreciate the help they are giving us,’’ added Firoza.
She also said MDDB was facing problems paying its veterinary bills given the high number of rescue and accident cases.
“We need help from members of the public urgently and those who can help us can contact us or the veterinary clinics directly,’’ she said.
Those wanting to donated dog and cat food, shampoo, rice, bleach and soap can also drop them off at the venue.

22A (1st Floor), Jalan Jambu Mawar off Jalan Kuching, Taman City, 51200 Kuala Lumpur.

APPEAL FOR HELP

JUST as we thought we can take a little breather after seeing through Napoleon and Mimi Chitta’s case – we now have four new cases to handle.

Three involves surgery and amputation whilst one involves a horrific maggot wound and severe tick fever.

Given that we are all dry after the previous cases, we are left with no choice other than appeal to your generosity to pay for the treatment of these unfortunate dogs.

Please help us help these unfortunate animals.

CASE 1

He deserves to live

We received a call from Kuantan, Pahang seeking help to treat a puppy that had suffered severe spinal injury.

Apparently the puppy had been brutalized by some goons and as a result had a broken spine and pelvis.

Currently the puppy has no sensation in its hind legs and tail but we feel there is hope in the event a surgery is performed to counter the fracture. The people who rescued the puppy in Kuantan are also going all out to save the puppy’s life and we are giving them our full support.

We have promised them that we will undertake the cost of the veterinary care and have spoken to the vets who will be carrying out the surgery.

The vet, who is one of the two people in Malaysia who are experts in spinal surgery, said we would first have to take an MRI and after checking the cost we were told that this would cost us RM1, 500. We will be arranging for an MRI this Sat at Gasing. If all goes well the puppy will be operated on and this is going to cost us more money.

Looking at the puppy’s face in the pix sent to us, the right thing to do is to give it every chance to overcome the ordeal.

The vet, who will be doing the surgery, told us that there is a chance for the puppy if it’s given the necessary treatment. So, people please help us give this puppy a second chance in life.

Those who want to help the puppy can make cheques out to Community Development and Integration Initiative Bhd or Brickfields Veterinary Medical Center Sdn Bhd and mail the cheques to: No 48, Jalan Jeriji U8/75C, Bukit Jelutong, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor.

CASE 2

Last week Jeff Soon informed us about a dog that was going around with a gaping wound on its head and leg. We tried to get the dog Coby rescued but it went missing for a few days only to emerge again about two days ago. The sight of Coby's injuries shocked the MDDB rescuers that had gone to capture the dog. Coby's head wound had festered into a pulp and stank like a clogged sewage. Its leg wound was equally bad. Coby was immediately taken to the vet and several hundred maggots were pulled out from both wounds. His paw was so eaten by maggots that the bone could be seen and the dog may also be facing amputation. To make matters worse Coby also suffers from tick fever and we have been advised to prepare ourselves to arrange for blood transfusions. The extent of the dog’s two maggot wounds is also terrible and we believe that this dog has to spend a long long time at the veterinary clinic. We are again asking your help to help Coby through his painful ordeal. Those who want to help Coby the dog can make cheques out to Community Development and Integration Initiative Bhd or Brickfields Veterinary Medical Center Sdn Bhd and mail the cheques to: No 48, Jalan Jeriji U8/75C, Bukit Jelutong, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor.

CASE 3

Blackie is an accident victim who was dumped by his owner who did not want to treat him. A kind neighbor alerted us and we asked his help to secure the dog and bring it to one of our panel clinics. The dog’s injured leg was badly crushed and the only option according to the vet is amputation. The dog is currently at the veterinary clinic pending amputation which is going to cost us the money we do not have. Please help us help Blackie. He needs all the help he can get.

Those who want to help Blackie can make cheques out to Community Development and Integration Initiative Bhd or Healing Rooms Veterinary Clinic Sdn Bhd and mail the cheques to: No 48, Jalan Jeriji U8/75C, Bukit Jelutong, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor.

Or bank your contribution into Public Bank Account Number: 3151793708 - Community Development and Integration Initiative Bhd - (654290-T)

CASE 4

Cleo was rescued by our MDDB members about three months ago. She is a Golden Retriever whom we believed is a product of unscrupulous breeding. Cleo terribly deformed and has only one eye, hip dysplasia, and also under-weight. She also has two benign tumours on her body. Cloe will be crippled if surgery is not carried out on her to correct her hip problem. Her surgery has been scheduled this month and we hope that you can help us see Cloe’s surgery through. She is unable to walk much because of her hip problem.

Those who want to help Cleo can make cheques out to Community Development and Integration Initiative Bhd and mail the cheques to: No 48, Jalan Jeriji U8/75C, Bukit Jelutong, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor.
