RED ALERT!

The man responsible for the carnage
Pitiful

Suffering

Frightened and hungry

Starved

Frightened to even move - probably bullied by the other dogs

Mother dog and her pups
Anyone missing their pet?

Terrified.

The situation at the Klang Municipal Council dog pound has reached a critical state. A friend who had gone there to feed the dogs said there were almost 200 dogs crammed there and some were terribly sick.

She has taken some photos and the sight at the pound is terribly heart wrenching. The Klang Municipal Council refuses to look at other alternatives instead of catching and putting these dogs through hell.

To make matters worse, they pay their dog catchers incentives which has resulted in them going out to catch dogs at all times of the day.

Their favourite time is about 6.00 or 7.00 pm when home owners come back from work and release their dogs to ease themselves.

Most of the dogs caught have collars on and if allowed to go on the situation will only get worse.

We have posted pictures taken by our friend and will also give out pamphlets this Saturday calling for people to gather outside MPK next week. We will announce the date soon.

Meanwhile, we are attaching a message to be sent to the relevant people as well as their emails. please send them mails telling them to stop the carnage.

The emails are that of the Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, the state executive councillors, Klang Municipal Council officials as well as the Klang MP Charles Santiago.

The Klang Municipal Council’s dog catching unit is going on a rampage as the dog catchers have been given incentives for every dog caught. The situation has gotten out of hand with the dog catchers even going out to catch dogs late at night.

Their favourite modus operendi is to go to housing estates in the evening when dog owners return home and release their dogs out for a while. The dogs are nabbed and manhandled before being brought to the pound. A large number of the dogs at the Klang dog pound have collars.

Yes, no doubt there are complaints about strays but this time MPK has embarked on a rampage of hate against all dogs under the instructions of its health department head En Zulkifli Abbas. The dogs are cramped in cages without proper food and water and many end up dead.
Hopefully, the state government will look into this as soon as possible and failure to do so is reflective of the Pakatan Rakyat’s inability to control its local government machinery. We also urge the Pakatan Rakyat government to transfer En Zulkifli Abbas out of MPK.
Failure by the state government to do so will result in aggressive groundwork being immediately launched to ensure that it’s booted out of Selangor in the next elections. We animal activists are willing to put any party which propagates compassion for animals in power because our main priority is to stop this cruelty and viciousness against dogs.

PETA REACHES OUT TO GROWING MUSLIM COMMUNITY WITH WEB SITE COVERING EVERYTHING FROM THE HAJ TO HALAL

Kindness to Animals a Tenet of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Teachings

Kuala Lumpur — With a new Pew Forum study showing that one out of every four people in the world is a Muslim, PETA Asia has unveiled IslamicConcerns.com, a site designed to help guide Muslims who are interested in exploring animal-friendly alternatives to everything from lamb kebabs and leather jackets to the sacrifice of goats on the holy days of Haj. The site provides information on what Islamic scholars have said regarding a vegetarian diet and discusses what the Qur'an and the hadiths say about human interaction with animals. It also addresses subjects such as the use of animals in lethal product tests and the care of animals in the home.

"The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that there is an estimable reward for showing kindness to every living being," says PETA member Nadia Montasser. "The prophet also says that God has no mercy on one who has no mercy on others."

Most animals on factory farms never see the sun, breathe fresh air, or feel the ground beneath their feet. They are often injured and die during transport. Sharia law prohibits causing needless pain to any animal before slaughter. The flesh of improperly killed animals is haram (forbidden) under Islam.

The Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings also call for compassion to dogs and donkeys, who are among the most abused animals in the Middle East. He told of a prostitute whose sins were forgiven by Allah because she had filled her shoe with water for a thirsty dog, and he admonished his followers for throwing stones at a bird and for beating a donkey. He also warned that the punishment on Judgment Day for a woman who locked up a cat and left the animal to starve would be torture and hell.

Kramer

POPIKO MAIL

Ms Shalini 'Cheenapop' Kiki-Mae and I having a discussion about the signature campaign

Kramer when he first came to us
Kramer on his wheels
Mr Hee guiding little Kramer
Dear Peeps,

we have been very very busy lately. Firstly, adoptions are rather slow in recent months and we reckon that this may be due to the festive season. So we are all trying our level best to find homes for our countless rescued puppies.
Then there is the Klang pound fiasco and we have taken to sending food to the pound at least once a week.
We also have our half-way-farm to kick start and that itself is a big big job to do.
Our director of signature campaign - for the petition to be presented to HRH the Sultan of Selangor - Ms Shalini 'Cheenapop' Kiki-Mae is also busy coordinating her assignment and I am also required to guide her a little now and then.
Anyway this post is to update about Kramer who is now being fostered by our Fund Raising Director Mr Strong Boy Hee.
Mr Strong Boy Hee is also helping Kramer to understand the nuances of being a pet and everything seems to be ok so far.
Mr Hee has also instructed his humans to build a contraption for Kramer to help him move about and that too has worked out well.
Thanks to Mr Hee's supervision and instructions, his humans have managed to come-up with an excellent invention.
We are yet to take Kramer to see a vet for his future medical needs and once we do this we will be in touch with Rasika and Norbert who have offered to foot his medical bills.
We also welcome others who want to chip in so that both Rasika and Norbert need not be burdened with the whole amount as Kramer will need some long term care because he tends to develop bedsores once in a while.
Anyway, Kramer is doing very well and he is a happy, happy, happy puppy albeit his disability.
