PUSPAKOM PUPPY - GOOD NEWS

PUSPAKOM PUPPY - PHOTO TAKEN YESYERDAY PUSPAKOM PUPPY - PHOTO TAKEN YESTERDAY. PUSPAKOM PUPPY - IN A COMA WHEN FIRST ADMITTED TO THE CLINIC BROWNIE, OUR FIRST BILIND PUPPY RESCUED TWO YEARS AGO
BROWNIE, LEARNT TO WALK ALONG THE WALL
Remember the Puspakom accident victim - well our day ended happy yesterday. The puppy is now fully conscious and can stand. However, due to head injuries the eyesight has been compromised. The vet thinks the puppy is blind or could have acquired poor eyesight. We are confident that this can be overcome as we had successfully rehomed a blind puppy some two years ago. The chap called Brownie is a dandy chap, who knows his way around his home. His human has also indicated her interest to adopt another disabled dog sometime ago. We hope everything will work out well for the Puspakom puppy. We are grateful to our vet who had worked hard that this puppy survived. Thank you Dr, very, very much.

ADOPTION DRIVE

XENA WHEN SHE WAS A PUP.
CANINE welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will be holding its usual adoption drive at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya from 11.30am to 7.30pm on Sunday April 17. The adoption drive will be located at Block NB1, facing Station 1 and Old Town White Coffee. Among the canines put up for adoption is a puppy named Xena that was adopted from MDDB in Oct lat year.

“Xena’s current owner thinks he cannot spend much time caring for the puppy anymore because of a drastic change in his work schedule.

“So, we have taken Xena back and putting her up for adoption,’’ said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

According to Lai, Xena is a smart young dog that is both gregarious and loving.

“We hope a family will take Xena in as she is very good with children,’’ said Lai.

Besides, Xena, about 15 other puppies will also be available for adoption at the event.

MDDB will also be at the Petz PowWow organized by Petz Unleashed Sdn Bhd on April 16 and 17 at Mines Square, Mines Shopping Mall in Seri Kembangan.
"We have been given a booth and will be selling some of our merchandise as well as putting-up some puppies for adoption,'' said Lai. Guests can participate with their pets in various interesting events such as the Best Dressed Pet Contest, Most Photogenic Pet(s) & Owner Contest and Best Pet & Owner Lookalike Contest. Other events there include owner and Pet Food Eating Contest for which Canadian Pizza will be sponsoring pizzas.

Lai is also appealing for funds, to pay for escalating veterinary bills, as well as items needed for the MDDB half-way-home.

“We need dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, old newspapers, dog and cat shampoo, old towels, rice, cages, detergent and bleach,’’ said Lai.

The items can be dropped off at the adoption drive at Jaya One, added Lai. Details visit http://www.malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/ or the Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better page on Facebook or call 019-3576477, 012-3739007.

FOOLS!

The Subang Jaya Municipal Council does not cease to amaze us. Apart from being one of the biggest abusers of canines in Selangor, the council has also proven over and over again that it is a dog-hating imbecile. The latest crap that has come from this troubled local council is its witch hunt plan of dogs belonging to the eight breeds mentioned in the article. Surely, the council isn't actually thinking that people will allow them to simply remove their pets to be taken away and killed. Pfffft! Don't they have anything better to do other than constantly waging war with dogs. MDDB understands it is the prerogative of the council to activate the ban - okay, say that it is illegal to purchase these breeds from April 14, 2011 - but to actually say that they are going to seize existing pets is criminal. MDDB will fight the council all the way.
Don't forget the fight we gave you in regard to this dog in 2008. MDDB also condemns the Selangor state government for its inability to control its local councils. Please emulate your Penang counterpart that has done quite a bit for canine welfare. Tan Sri Khalid, its time you put your foot down and order these local councils from behaving like barbarians.
And to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) that implemented the ban - how did these breeds get into the country in spite of your ban? Di you inform the Customs Department of the ban which was implemented years ago? If it is being bred locally, who allowed breeders to breed these dogs? Given that some of these dogs are MKA certified, how did this gaffe happen?
