Footwear brand launches fundraising campaign
INNOVATIVE footwear brand Crocs (www.crocs.com.my ) has launched a fundraising campaign in support of the Malaysian Cats Care Project (MCCP), a feline welfare programme run by the non-governmental organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).
A total of 25 Crocs Concept Stores nationwide are involved in the fundraising campaign from now till Dec 31, 2010.
Customers who donate a minimum of RM5 will get a free Jibbitz charm and all proceeds will go to MCCP.
Customers who purchase the newly launched latest models from the Crocs Hello Kitty collection such as the McCall Hello Kitty flat for women or the Hello Kitty Custom Clog for kids and donate RM5 will get the special Hello Kitty Jibbitz.
Meanwhile, several celebrities have also joined Crocs to help raise awareness of MCCP’s work and its push for a ‘Trap-Neuter-Release & Manage’ programme in response to the growing number of strays on the streets.
Television personality Nazrudin Rahman; model, actor and television host Hansen Lee; ex-model, actress and celebrity emcee Bernie Chan and actress Intan Ladyana were present at the official launch of the fundraising campaign at the Crocs Concept Store at Empire Subang Gallery.
According to Crocs Regional Sales manager Jamie Lim, the partnership with MCCP was a great embodiment of Crocs’ Feel Good Revolution marketing theme.
“Cats and dogs have such great capacity to give unconditional love and make us feel good. With the help of our celebrity friends, we hope to spread the word and encourage more people to give the strays a chance,”she said.
At the event, Crocs also unveiled custom-designed MCCP T-shirts for sale to members of the public who would like to lend a helping hand to MCCP. The T-shirts are on sale at RM35 each during MCCP adoption drives.
MCCP aims to do what CDII’s pioneer project, Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB), the canine welfare programme, has successfully done for stray dogs. MDDB has re-homed some 300 stray dogs it rescued since 2008.
According to MCCP adoption coordinator Christine Lai, the group was grateful for the support from Crocs and the celebrities.
“We need all the help we can get due to the growing number of strays that we have rescued from the streets that need urgent fostering and rehoming. That is why we have had to increase the number of adoption drives recently from once a month. We hope that more and more animal lovers would step forward and provide a loving home for the many cats and dogs currently under our temporary care,” she said.
As part of its corporate and social responsibility programme, Crocs is also sponsoring free Crocs footwear for MCCP/MDDB volunteers and shoe vouchers and non-woven goodie bags, will be given to members of the public who adopt a cat or dog as recognition of their goodwill.
