THE ARSEHOLE CHRONICLES

Some people are born sadists and Mr Arsehole is one such person. Yep, we are not going to be diplomatic anymore. Thanks to Lisa Kuok who made us realize that diplomacy won’t get us anywhere. Here is a person who has NOT even rescued one stray in his lifetime but yet pretends to be an expert. To tell you the truth, Arsehole has a vendetta against stray dogs. It’s simply because he feels that strays are not worth the trouble.
Before we move on to explain why we are so pissed off, let us narrate a story that happened some ten years or more. One of the MDDB founders and Arsehole had had a discussion about getting stray puppies off the streets or from the SPCA and training them to be companion dogs for the disabled. After the conversation the MDDB person never heard from Arsehole for a while and later found out that he had started a company in partnership with some Dr V to train pedigree pups for disabled people. What was initially discussed as a platform to get strays off the streets had been turned into a commercial endeavor by Arsehole.
There were also plans to breed these pups on their own. However, the company exploded on their faces and after some years he started his current organization.
Coming back to the present, a young lady called Miss Teh, who feeds some dogs in Klang found herself in a quandary recently. Her dogs had been caught by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK). She went to the pound to take the dogs out and was slapped with a huge compound. She argued that these were strays and she was taking them out to be rehomed. (The plan was to send them to a farm.) The MPK people said the CAT committee had told them not to give the strays to anyone but to put them to sleep instead.
Arsehole has also told several people that the life of a stray is not worth living. This is the stupidest statement any arsehole can make. Visit any rescuer and you’ll see that their pet/s are all ex-strays. What about the strays we get adopted? They move on to have good lives in spite of their history. Arsehole also wrote on his blog that on his way somewhere he had seen several strays and “one was poking its entire head into a garbage bin of a resident desperately looking for a morsel to satiate its "hunger-panged" body.”
“Another was sleeping on the grass outside the home of a very rich house owner’ and Arsehole thinks that the house owner must be feeding the dog.
And the third ‘was being threatened with a rock by a man.’
Arsehole says he saw yet another skinny dog with its tail between its legs which was trying to cross the highway.
Due to all these scenes that he saw, Arsehole deduces that the only solution would be for them to be put to death instead of allowing them to live as strays.
He goes on to challenge rescuers who are against euthanasia to "walk their righteous and ridiculous talk" and take this animals into their homes and lives. He is also against the feeding of strays by good Samaritans.

http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/2009/06/remember-patches.html

We rescued Patches from the pound a day before she was put to sleep. She was infected with distemper at the pound - we treated her. Look at her now. Look at the proud look on her face. This pix was taken last year - she's looking even grander now. Thank heavens, we believe in second chances and do not have a constipated brain like Arsehole.

http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/2009/04/update-on-sister-doberman.html
This is Luca a.k.a Sister Doberman. If we had constipated minds like Arsehole, we would have killed her the minute we found her because she was in a terrible condition and stank like a sewage because of her skin condition. Luckily, we strongly believed that all living creatures had the right to live. So, we gave her a second chance.

http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/2009/04/remember-brother-rottie.html
This is Rottie now renamed Dexter. He had a miserable start in life. One of his legs was deformed. We never gave up on him. Today he is a happy dog who has his own bed in his human's bedroom. We believed in him and we believed in ourselves to give him a good life.

http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/2010/04/good-news.html
This is Lester and he was half-cooked when some idiot poured boiling oil on him. We saw his fighting spirit and did everything possible to ensure that he got well. He now lives in the lap of luxury in Section 16, Petaling Jaya. What if we had constipated minds and felt that death was the best option for him?

http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/2010/01/cindy.html
This is Cinderella now renamed Faith. She was rescued from the Klang pound and her faced was badly splashed with acid. We did not give up on her and we are glad we didn’t. She is today a confident doggie that also sleeps in the same bedroom as her humans and goes on holidays with them as well.

These are only a few of our many successes. What if we had constipated minds and believed that these dogs did not deserve to live? MDDB is made up of people who respect all forms of life and hold strongly to the belief that the onus is one us to share this world with every other living thing.

So our response to Arsehole would be: ARE YOU IN A COMA ARSEHOLE? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE DOING WHEN WE SPEND ALL OUR TIME AND RESOURCES TAKING THESE DOGS OFF THE STREETS AND NEUTERING THEM AND FINDING THEM HOMES? WE ARE WALKING OUR TALK WHICH IS ONLY RIDICULOUS TO YOU, YOU IMBECELE! WHAT WE ARE PROPAGATING HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL IN MANY COUNTRIES. ONLY A SHITHEAD ARSEHOLE LIKE YOU WITH A CONSTIPATED MASS OF SHIT FOR A BRAIN WILL THINK OTHERWISE.
Arsehole has also said other equally dumb and constipated things on his blog such as:

1) Dog catchers are unsung heroes even though they risk getting injured or bitten during the line of their duties in trying to accomplish their noble mission.

2) The majority of the dogs that dog catchers come across are abused dogs; as well as extremely sick animals.

3) That life for the strays is a living hell; no one wants to really care for them - even those who profess to feed them and therefore it is better to take these dogs out of their predicament and humanely put them down instead of allowing them to suffer in the cold and uncaring streets.

Arsehole had also brought a so-called private animal control professional trained in Australia who apparently showed the dogcatchers how to trick and lure the dogs to death with food.
We called this person who confessed that he was not an animal activist but a businessman. He said he was also the one who had given the Selangor government the plan for the modern dog pound in Sepang.
He too strongly believed that strays should be taken off the streets and put to death. He asked us if we knew that dogs transmitted diseases.
We said there was no rabies in Malaysia. He said there were other diseases and when we asked him to tell us what these diseases were – he was unable to give us a reply. We think it’s because he didn’t know.
We are wondering if Arsehole has plans to bid for a dog catching job with the local councils, especially MPK, as the council unlike several others, was yet to engage a private dog catching company to do the job.
Our question is – What exactly is Arsehole hoping to get by throwing a spanner into the work being done by rescuers?
What exactly is Arsehole hoping to get by killing all the strays?
What the hell is Arsehole trying to get by kissing the butts of the local councils’ dog catching fellows?
One of the answers is probably to get his tenure as councilor extended as well as probably secure a dog catching contract.
So people write to the Petaling Jaya mayor protesting against his reappointment. He can only throw a spanner into independent rescuers’ efforts and kill strays if he remains a councilor. Push MBPJ to give other disabled people a chance to be councilor.

On the CAT committee – Pat Lim and Jackie Tsang have both resigned because as rescuers they know that what he is doing is mayhem of the highest order. PAWS refuses to attend any of the meetings organized by CAT. It’s only the SPCA and a couple of his arsehole friends with equally constipated brains who are left on the committee.
In closing this epistle, we would like to say – THE WAR HAS STARTED ARSEHOLE. WE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CONTINUE YOUR MURDEROUS RAMPAGE AGAINST THE POOR STRAYS. UNITE ALL DOG LOVERS, FEEDERS and RESCUERS – LET’S PUT A STOP TO THIS ARSEHOLE FOR GOOD.

To the writer of the MDDB blog,

My name is Amir and I have been reading your blog for sometime. In fact, I have a few friends that read your blogs as well. One even tried to post a comment in your blog but it was never published. Maybe it's because you are trying to protect your organization or your reputation since you do not openly use your real name or post your picture but use a dogs picture and name instead. Therefore, I challenge you to post my comments in your blog and answer as yourself.

I think you do not know much about the animal related problems faced in Malaysia. Have you ever been bitten by stray dogs or have children that had caught animal related diseases. I have! In my youth, I was chased and bitten by a pack of dogs and recently my 7 year old daughter caught ringworms from playing with a stray cat. If you know your subject matter you wouldn't be taking about rabies only. What is H1N1, SARS and Nipah Virus to you? Did you know that H1N1 was detected in dogs and cats in the states recently? Do you know what is the meaning of ANTIGENIC SHIFT? Please Google it up before deviating readers to your cause. Your statements are showing everyone that you clearly do not know what you are doing.

Me and my friends regret ever donating money to your cause when you were in NZX Damansara sometime back.

Is your agenda to raise funds for your organization saying that you should NOT catch strays but leave them free to roam freely and reproduce? If you want to save the strays by vaccinating/treating, neutering and rehoming them them all means go ahead. I myself have 3 stray cats that I picked up off the streets. But if your are saying that the councils shouldn't catch stray dogs and cats, you are seriuosly going off the loose end.

I don't think that by attacking individuals, councils and other NGO's show that you are a a good organization. You even use foul language like AR**HOLE in your blogs.

The councils are doing Taxpayers a service when they do dog catching. The same as when they do fogging for mosquitoes. To protect us. Do you want them to NOT do this service in your neighbourhood? Your organization name is Community Development and Integration Initiative Bhd. Are you really doing this for the community or for yourselves?

Regards

Mohd Amir

Amir, WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Anyway, we have a few things to say to you. You do not understanmd the issue at hand - so shut up.

Secondly, comments on this blog are not moderated and therefore your dare for me to publish this comment holds no water. If your initial comments did not get published - means you do not know how to use blogspot facets.

Thirdly, we took down the names of all the donors at at the NZX drive eventhough they only gave us a ringgit. Your name is not there and from our records there were only six Muslim visitors and we are still very much in touch with them.

Next, please goggle-up TNR. Also read anout the diseases present in Malaysia.

Lastly, is MOHD AMIR your real name. I may not sue my name but everyone whop comes to this blog can call me as my number is in the open.

BTW grow some balls will you and attach your phone number to your comments.

We have ceased being diplomatic - so, you will probably read stronger words than ARSEHOLE soon.

Dear MDDB

U are doing a great job by publicising this matter. Animal awareness in the country is growing because of you and other animal org. kUdos to u all.

Don't be discouraged by certain quarters who are selfish and hide behind their own agendas. I have lost hope in our govt and local councillors long time ago.

Strays also have a right to live., They are creatures of GOD, just like u and me.

I don't kill my friends for transmitting flu to me. and remember flus are deadly but not ringworm. do u kill all the tigers in the world bec they have bitten someone?

i have rescued many strays of the street myself, vaccinating and neutering them with my own money and i can tell u that they burn a BIG hole in my pocket. at least i know that the money i donated to MDDB goes to the animals. on the contrary, i did not ask for my tax money to be used for building 800 million dollars building and palace.

Dear MDDB,

Will be writing letters and forwarding your course. All of my dogs have been strays and they have been the outmost generous companions one can ask for. In terms of propagating diseases, I suggest the council focus its narrow-minded views onto rats and sexual predators out there. Your money and time is much needed elsewhere. Viva la TNR!

In reply:

"Secondly, comments on this blog are not moderated and therefore your dare for me to publish this comment holds no water. If your initial comments did not get published - means you do not know how to use blogspot facets."

This is only what you claim and cannot be verifed. Certain moderators ban obsene language comments from their site. But I guess you don't mind seeing that you're foul mouthed yourself.

"Thirdly, we took down the names of all the donors at at the NZX drive eventhough they only gave us a ringgit. Your name is not there and from our records there were only six Muslim visitors and we are still very much in touch with them."

Nope, the person didn't take our names down as you claim. We donated through one of your volunteer dogs which had a box of some kind tied around it's neck.

"Next, please goggle-up TNR. Also read anout the diseases present in Malaysia."

And what about TNR? My stand is if the "R" REHOME that would be fine but if you're refering to RELEASE, You had better make sure that these animals are well attended to and don't go bitting innocent people or causing a nuisance in the neighbourhood. Diseases present in Malaysia? Me? Google it up? Why don't you ask the nearest government vet about it for yourself. Should I be the one educating you?

"Lastly, is MOHD AMIR your real name. I may not sue my name but everyone whop comes to this blog can call me as my number is in the open.
BTW grow some balls will you and attach your phone number to your comments."

Yes that's the name my father gave me. Do you have a problem wih that as well? I proudly use my name everyday. It means high ranking or person in high position. What's yours? And what about balls? World cup fever getting to you too? By the way, I have both types! And post my mobile number to you so you can call me and do what? Go for a Ball game? Not likely!

"We have ceased being diplomatic - so, you will probably read stronger words than ARSEHOLE soon."

Well it's your decision afterall about being non diplomatic and vulgar. This blog is getting pretty interesting, I must say. With so much foul language, I wonder when the nudity will start. I'll tell all my friends to mark your site as a sex site soon!

Anyway, thanks for putting my comments up and for proving that you're not afraid to stand up for what you believe in. Also a note to add, the reason why we donated last was the fact that we thought you were having the same agenda as Selangor SPCA. But it seems not huh? Shall we try to start a poll to ask ALL fellow Malaysians on:

A) Stopping all councils from catching strays all together and let them just reproduce and prosper(Your agenda right?)

B) Ask all councils in Malaysia to continue catching strays but send them all to your facility as a service to you.(This too is for your benefit)

C) Ask the councils to divert all their complaint calls to you since you say all calls to you are open. I think you could do a great job at this!

Any advice on how to start the poll thing? I think there some online polls available from the Malaysian internet newspaper site. Any ideas on how to do that?

Regards

Amir

Anonymous, 12.30am - courtesy and politeness does not work with morons. Stop preaching. Go and save a stray.

Anonymous said...

I actually do. =) I've got 5 dogs now which is against the law. But I think there are less strays here in Kuching than in West Malaysia. Keep up the good work anyway but I would highly advise less usage of name calling. :P It definitely brings more support (I promise) when we see that you are in control of your emotions while doing the good work of rescuing. If you can control your tongue, then you can control the rest of your body.

Amir.. wonder if its your real name. Few words to describe u " HEARTLESS, IDIOT, BULLSHITer ...

Unknown said...

I myself have rescued 11 dogs on the street and successfully rehome them all and to tell you the truth it was a hard work and it burn my pocket.

In the beginning i try very hard to get my friends to support the idea of rescuing stray.

But i always encounter questions on this rescuing work like.

1.' You have the heart to save a stray so that they won't be abused or kill but do you consume meat'

2.'If you find the stray pitiful why don't you take them home and take care of them' and so on.

In the beginning i try really hard in explaining to this type of people but the more i explained the more i realized that, When a person does not agree another on his/her works all sort of comments and questions will appear.

Just like Mohd Amir, who does not support the idea of rescuing stray.

He said 'My stand is if the "R" REHOME that would be fine but if you're refering to RELEASE,You had better make sure that these animals are well attended to and don't go bitting innocent people or causing a nuisance in the neighbourhood'

But can MDDB maintained thousands of stray by their own ?

Obviously Mohd Amir does not understand that the real meaning of this rescuing work. He just wanted to condemn on MDDB.

Even there is a method in helping the stray this type of people ( Mohd Amir )will never agree to
it.

Since then i have stop explaining about my rescue work.

People who understand and support the idea will not keep condemn about it. Instead they will try to share ideas.

So as to Mohd Amir, if you does not support the idea in rescuing stray why don't you keep away from this blog.

And to MDDB, there is absolutely no reason for you to waste your time in explaining to this people who does not support the idea of rescuing stray.

Dear Anon 12.42am,

these are ruffians we are dealing with not decent people with conscience. We have tried everything but dogs are still being brutalised. We are not children but adults who take responsibility for what we say or do - help us if you can but it would be greatly appreciated if lectures are not given. You have your way and we have ours.

Regards.

Amir, Amir, stop whining!
MDDB's plea is to not kill stray dogs.
That's the shortest explanation.
Is your stand the contrary- Killing all stray dogs?

Anonymous said...

I think MDDB is the only group which rescues and also advocates animal rights. MDDB cannot expect change if it takes the soft approach. As a dog lover, I am glad we have MDDB. Many changes have taken place since MDDB exposed the cruelty in pounds. Keep up the good job MDDB, you will always have my support.

Amir is missing the entire point of what the MDDB is about. MDDB endeavours to save as many strays as possible, help them recover, and get them adopted into loving homes. What MDDB seeks is support and help from others to do the same, so that we can settle the stray problem in the the most efficient, and at the same time, kind manner.

As proved by all the success stories, there are many kind-hearted people who would gladly adopt strays, purely out of generosity and love. What these people need are organisations such as MDDB to provide a platform for this to happen.

Challenging MDDB to take in all strays to their "facility" or get all complaints directed to them is unfair and totally irrelevant. MDDB is not saying we should let all the strays wander and reproduce. In fact, they are saying the total opposite - that we rescue them and neuter them and hopefully give them homes and new lives.

Would you catch and kill a homeless beggar? Why not? Because it would be against all morals and principles of humanity. This same concept should apply equally to animals because they too are living beings on this good Earth. Just because they don't have a voice to speak does not mean they can't feel pain or torture or hunger. They too, deserve to live, just like any homeless human being wandering the streets.

If Amir wants to talk about animals spreading diseases, then humans are equally guilty of spreading diseases too. At least animals don't intentionally and deliberately spread diseases; it happens out of nature. But humans, on the other hand, spread diseases knowingly all the time. Perhaps he should direct his attention to rapists and human traffickers first if he's worried about disease. Why blame the stray cat for giving his daughter ringworms? He should have ensured that his daughter was supervised in the first place. His daughter could have ended up in a worse situation done by human beings than catching ringworms from a cat.

It is true that Anthony Thanasayan is an arsehole. I belong to a disabled community and can vouch that he threatens to trash us in his column in The Star if we go against him. He is still an ahli majlis because he butters Ronnie Liu up. He doesn't represent at least 90% of the disabled community. He is a very mean person only pretends to speak for us.

Glad to see so many comments here in this blog. More lively isn't it? Actually the reason on why I decided to write in is to understand the writers angst against the dog catchers. The writer has been quite verbally abusive in her blog and well, deserves retaliation. War? I notice also that the writer didn't mention about:

'Animal Control Officer' Workshop Held in KL
Fri, 4th Jun 2010, 05:38pm

The World Society For The Protection of Animals (WSPA) organized this regional workshop for member societies in Asia, and we happily hosted it at our office in Ampang Jaya! Over 27 participants from Malaysia, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the Phillipines, Thailand and Indonesia gathered for the 4-day workshop led by Rigo Neira from the Humane Society of Hawaii. The workshop focused on introducing the role of animal control officers, community issues, street dog capture & handling, and a practical dog-handling session at Pulau Ketam. Participants from Malaysia included MBPJ, UPM, DVS and SPCA Selangor.

I am sure that the SPCA Selangor and other NGO's had some sort of training seminar in the past as well.

Double standards? Is the writer (still nameless) trying to say no to catching strays altogether? The challenge to MDDB on the councils letting them have all the dogs caught is quite a valid one.

The fact is: The councils are responsible for the well being of the public. They attend to complaints from members of the public and act upon it. They also get and earful if they don't perform their duties as well. Just make sure they do it right! A classic case of "DAMNED IF YOU DO AND DAMNED IF YOU DON'T" because if they do perform their duties, The MDDB writer goes on a rampage.

What would you want them to do then? Logically, I suppose, to make both parties happy, the councils catch and surrender them to MDDB. Am I wrong to state this? Do you expect them to do as you do, which is Trap, Neuter and Release or Rehome? Would this solve the problems from the other parties who just want them off the streets?

As mentioned, I agree with TNRehoming but not Releasing for the most simplest reason - Where will MDDB be releasing the strays. In an enclosure? Or back on the streets? Back to square one unless you own the street I say. The councils will receive the complaints and they go back to capturing the strays again.

As mentioned, the MDDB does their thing and let the councils do theirs. MDDB happy, Councils happy and other Rakyat happy. Problem solved!

Do you really think that those council dog catchers really want to do this job? Probably not! So what exactly is MDDB's solution to the problem? WAR? Name calling?

I believe I mentioned that I myself had rescued 3 cats that are living happily in my house. I applaud the fact that MDDB is trying to rehome them. Good! Well done! But to release?

Continued Amir part 2

About diseases? Rabies? Good job to the government for eradicating this in Malaysia. Ever wondered how they did it? So it's all about control now, especially from the northern states bordering Thailand and smugglers bringing in animals from across the border. But what if? It only takes one mistake or an infected animal crossing the border to start another outbreak as mentioned in a study from IMR and mention from an infectious disease speaker who was here 2 years ago.

CDC - Despite the elimination of canine-rabies, the disease remains a human threat in the US particularly from bats. Rabies also remains a potential threat through spillover infections from wildlife to domestic animals adaptation to new animal reservoirs, movement of potentially infected animals, and lack of adequate vaccination coverage of domestic animals, particularly cats and dogs.

Roundworms, leptospirosis, the list goes on. My daughter got ringworms from a stray cat but they are also common for dogs. Supervision? Just to inform you that ringworms are easily spread not just for touching a stray but during a walk in the park, at the playground and so forth. How would another writer feel if his child was infected by ringworms, hookworms and so forth? Beggars, rapists and human traffickers? Are we commenting on the same subject here? Isn't the main subject about MDDB against the CAT? Just leave that other problem with the proper authorities okay?

Putting cat related problems aside, it's MDDB and not MCDB right? What about dog attacks? Many cases of that in Malaysia as well?

I was attacked by a pack of dogs when I was young while walking on the side of the road on the way home. I didn't make any sudden movements and tried to avoid the dogs lying nearby by crossing on the other side of the road. They just got up and surrounded me, I stood still and for that brief moment the dogs remained still but they still were growling. Suddenly, one bit me from behind and obviously you move when you fell pain. And that was all it took for the other dogs to attack me. Trust me, it could happen to anyone. Just look at the papers.

I'm muslim and a dog attack victim, yet strangely enough, I don't hate dogs, me and my friends even gave donations at the MDDB adoption drive at NZX, eventhough the writer clearly does not believe this. By the way, I believe it was a small schnauzer dog with a box tied around it's neck.

Cruelty issues? Go ahead, no problem, go to WAR if you like!

I actually agree with the comments listed by the writer with 5 dogs and I do understand what oliver wrote eventhough he said that I didn't.

Anyway, it's time to go to bed now so I'm signing off. Let's just see what tomorrow brings!

Amir, you are a fuck of the highest order. You bodoh sangat tak tau pakai blogspot and then cry that your posts are moderated. Kepala hang tu ada otak ke taik? You are still not able to grasp what MDDB is all about simply because you are one bodoh fuck. Its because of bodoh fucks like you that animal welfare in this country is in the pits. As for being bitten by dogs, all rescuers can tell you stories about being bitten by dogs. But do they launch attacks on dogs because of this? No, we help them instead. As for you givin money to MDDB - I doubt it but if you insist - tell me how much and I will sedekah it back to you on MDDB's behalf and maybe throw in an extra ringgit or two. Stop being so cheap and petty, you stupid fuck. As for whatever you have written, you stupid fuck - it makes no sense at all.Go fly a kite.

I agree with Lana that Amir does not know what he's taking about. I am a veterinary officer with DVS and believe TNR is the best method to reduce the number of strays in the country. Amir should not simply talk because of his obvious hatred for dogs. Its people like Amir who give Muslims a bad name.

Anonymous said...

Back to vulgarity again? Just because Í've got a lot of issues to clarify doesn't mean I don't understand what MDDB is doing Lana. Are you the writer of this blog? Who would know that a long post on blogspot would not be published? Very uncouth behaviour if you ask me. Did I say not to continue your work in TNRehome? Just read what I commented and continue from there.

As for the VO from DVS, in what angle are you refering to when you mentioned about my hatred to dogs? Which department in DVS are you from and where are you based? I have checked the DVS directory and didn't find a Redhuan anywhere? Only a Dr. Redzuan Ibrahim is listed under Seksyen Pedaging. Are you him? Is so give us your insight on how TNRelease works. Assuming you mean RELEASE and if you really are Dr. Redzuan Ibrahim. By the way, your name is spelt Redzuan and not Redhuan right?

Amir

Anonymous said...

And Lana? Me and my friends didn't gave THAT much to MDDB it's okay. They can keep it. But if you really feel so strongly about it, you can give RM 30 with your kind gesture of adding a couple of ringgit more to SPCA Selangor. I just wanted to clarify that we HAVE in fact donated when the writer said we didnt. Enough said on that issue. What about the rest of you? Nothing to add?

What happened as a result of allowing TNR?

Failure in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ
http://www.tnrrealitycheck.com/pointpleasantbeach.asp

Read what municipalities have to say…

From the Palm Beach Daily News in Florida, 2009

Excerpt:

Clearly exasperated with the whole situation, Council President David Rosow threatened to push an ordinance allowing island residents and their staff to feed only cats residing on their private property unless the two groups worked out their issues.

"The sad thing is we have men and women in Afghanistan, we have them in Iraq, we've got pirates in Somalia," Rosow said.

"We've got people across the bridge who would love to have a can of cat food, because they have no money to buy food. This is an embarrassment for our town. … Our residents laugh at us on a regular basis. People stop me on the street, at the clubs and at dinner and ask about 'the cats' and laugh and say, 'This is just the silliest thing in the world.'"

From the Bandera County Courier in Texas, 2009

Excerpt:

Too tenderhearted to leave the cat in the trap without food and water all night, she transferred the cat into a larger cage for one last meal before restricting its food for the night - according to pre-surgery protocol.

When the cat tried to escape, she reached out her hand to stop the fleeing animal and, for her efforts, was bitten to the bone on her right hand. After being bitten, Charity dropped the cat and it ran off.

Excerpt:

Bandera County Animal Welfare Society (AWS) Director Sandee Bowman helped the City of Bandera start a Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) program four years ago.

Excerpt:

She was informed that besides being financially responsible for her hospital bill, she would be also be responsible for the cost of quarantining the cat that bit her.

Nightingale's criticism of TNR runs deep. "No one re-traps the animals to give them booster shots for rabies control. Rabies is increasing in the State of Texas and rabies vaccines do not last a lifetime."

While figures for 2008 are not yet available, Nightingale said positive rabies cases have been climbing since 2005 - despite the rabies bait drop program aimed at lowering the fatal disease in coyotes and foxes.

"There were 888 positives for rabies in domestic and wild animals in 2006," he said. "Ten of these were cats. There were 969 positive cases in 2007 and 14 were cats. That's a significant number when you consider the fact that people who can't capture the cat that bit them must undergo thousands of dollars worth of medical treatment."

Nightingale added, "Our office uses a rabies vaccine for cats that produces less cancer-related health issues and it has only been cleared for one year. When a person traps one of these animals and gets bitten, it is at someone's expense - often the taxpayers."

Excerpt:

He added, "The TNR program goes against everything we were taught in veterinary school about preventing disease. It's basically throwing the animals back out there to die from fights, disease or getting run over by vehicles. The average life expectancy of a cat is between 12 and 15 years. Bowman admits that feral cats only live a third of that time."

Nightingale concluded, "I am against using public funds for this program. Someone has to pay when a person gets injured by one of these animals. I'm not convinced that the number of feral cats within the City of Bandera has decreased. I get a lot of calls about them. And I'm against catching them and giving them medical treatment, then putting them back to eat all the songbirds."

For Immediate Release, from the County of Los Angeles, California, October 23, 2008

Excerpt:

Representatives from the Los Angles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) have worked with a local feral cat group for over nine months to find a solution to this growing problem. Despite this effort, the cat population remains significant, and a recent inspection on the campus found five litters. DACC has offered the group numerous resources to assist in this effort; however the number of cats has continued to grow.

Excerpt:

"What this comes down to is protecting the health and well being of the children at the day care center and our employees at the crime and public health labs, as well as the public who routinely visit the campus," said Supervisor Knabe. "The goal is to control fleas and other problems that could pose a public health hazard, especially for children or those with weakened immune systems. This is kids over cats, plain and simple."

From Associated Press by South Jersey News Online, March 5, 2008

Excerpt:

After nearly a year of conflict that pitted cat lovers against bird lovers in one of North America's prime bird-watching spots, the City Council approved a plan to move feral cat colonies 1,000 feet away from the beach.

The move was necessary to protect endangered shore birds like the piping plover and the least tern, both of which are vulnerable to cats and other predators because they nest on the ground, in ruts on Cape May's popular beach.

Because the birds are listed as endangered species, federal environmental officials had threatened to withhold funds for replenishing Cape May's beach if the city refused to protect the birds.

Excerpt:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had wanted feral cat colonies banned within one mile of the beach -- which would have eliminated all wild cats in Cape May, where both cats and birds are popular.

Excerpt:

Federal authorities have said they are not thrilled with the compromise, believing it still allows wild cats too close to nesting birds, but are willing to try it for a few months this spring and summer.

From The Star Ledger, 2006

Excerpt:

Animal welfare representatives rallied outside Carteret's board of health last night to protest a plan to rescind an ordinance aimed at controlling the borough's feral cat population.

Excerpt:

Initially, officials said they saw the program as a good way to decrease the stray cat population because the cats would not be able to reproduce. Instead, they have been inundated with complaints from residents who say cats are taking over their backyards.

"They defecate and pee and do their business on my property," said Grace Carolla, who said she lives next door to a feeder. "It seems that these cats never leave."

Carolla said she is not against the trap-neuter-release program, but she would prefer the cats are not fed near her property because they tend to gather there in groups and attract other stray cats.

Excerpt:

He said the best option for the borough would be to hire an animal-control officer who would rapidly resolve complaints by trapping stray cats and leaving them with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for adoption or euthanization.

"The key word here is do not release them back out," he said.

Full Story available in The Star-Ledger Archive: Plan to end 'humane' cat-control program protested. Critics say ordinance made Carteret's problem worse.

Many people may not want to see feral cats euthanized, but that does NOT mean they want managed cat colonies next to their homes and places of business. Municipalities should require cat licensing, rabies vaccinations, and pass ordinances that prohibit cats from free-roaming and prohibit people from feeding feral cats. Colonies should never be maintained on public or municipal land. Managed colonies should be treated as a zoning or land use issue. If TNR is permitted, that should be on private property and the cats should be enclosed to prevent them from roaming.

Public health and welfare must be the priority.

To MDDB,

Hi, first of all this is Amir again! I'm with you on all cruelty issues so you can go to WAR if you want! I'm unfortunately against TNRelease program on dogs and cats. Change it to just TNRehome and the slate will be wiped clean. I refer to your past blogs on MDDB supporting PETA on this issue.

http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com/2010/04/alert.html

By the way, did you know that PETA is against TNRelease? So when are you going to change your position with PETA?
------------------------------------------------
What is PETA’s stance on programs that advocate trapping, spaying and neutering, and releasing feral cats?

Sadly, our experience with trap, spay-and-neuter, and release programs and "managed" feral cat colonies has led us to question whether or not these programs are truly in the cats’ best interests. We receive countless reports of incidents in which cats—"managed" or not—suffer and die horrible deaths because they must fend for themselves outdoors. Having witnessed firsthand the gruesome things that can happen to feral cats, we cannot in good conscience advocate trapping and releasing as a humane way to deal with overpopulation.

Advocates argue that feral cats are just as deserving as other felines and that it is our responsibility to alleviate their suffering and assure their safety. We absolutely agree. It is precisely because we would never encourage anyone to let their own cats outdoors to roam that we do not encourage the same for feral cats. In fact, the act of releasing a feral cat is, in the eyes of the law, abandonment and is illegal in many areas.

PETA:
We believe that although altering feral cats prevents the suffering of future generations, it does little to improve the quality of life for the cats who are left outdoors and that allowing feral cats to continue their daily struggle for survival in a hostile environment is not usually a humane option.

Nevertheless, PETA’s position has never been that all feral cats should be euthanized. We believe that trap, vaccinate, spay/neuter, and release programs are acceptable when the cats are isolated from roads, people, and other animals who could harm them; regularly attended to by people who not only feed them but care for their medical needs; and situated in an area where they do not have access to wildlife and where the weather is temperate.
------------------------------------------------
Notice again that there talking about cats?

Amir, please don't try to speak for the public'S health and what not when it's clear that it's you who has personal issues (re: the pack of dogs biting you).

Please lose your "I'm higher than thou" attitude; the fact that you don't use vulgarities on this blog does not mean you're more superior than the ones who do.

Also, why so petty and trying to find out whether "Redhuan" is his real name or not or whether he really works as a VO? If you're implying that Redhuan is lying, then we also cannot be sure that your pack-of-dogs-biting-me story is true or not.

I know many people who walk in parks all the time (eg. morning jogging, evening walks, family outings) and I also have friends who feed and play with stray cats around my neighbourhood. How come they don't catch ringworms? Your case is isolated. For every person who is a "victim" of strays for whatever reason, there are many more people who have had no problems with strays all their lives.

Anonymous said...

That's the best you can come out with? That's I'm not allowed to speak about PUBLIC HEALTH? That's a first for me! LOL!

And why are you speaking for Redhuan? Are you him? Are you a representative for MDDB as well?

Ringworms scenario again? What about the other cases that I cited?

Let the vulgar writer or the leader from MDDB answer. Let us have a good discussion on the issues at hand. Don't talk about beggars, rapists, human smuggling or whatever.

Let's start afresh shall we?

Amir

Amir, you are a dog hating fuck. Your long copmments have no subatance. You don't understand the TNR concept. Go eat shit and die. A miserable 30 bucks? You are a real fuck aren't you?

Amir,

I didn't say you're not "allowed" to speak for public health. What I mean is - don't speak on behalf of the "public" if it's based on your own personal issues. You think you're here to represent "the public" for the good of "the public". Does "the public" really share your opinion in the first place? Again, this stems from your "I'm higher than thou" attitude. If you say MDDB is not aware of the real situation out there, what makes you think you are?

Challenging me by saying "is that the best you can come up with?" is another example of your "higher than thou" attitude. You seem to think that you know better than everyone else on this page.

I am not Redhuan. I am not speaking "for" Redhuan. I'm speaking for myself because I saw how you tried to imply that he was lying about his position so as to discredit him. But I'm putting to you - if you say he and others are lying, how do we know your stories are true as well?

What other cases that you cited?

I referred to beggars, rapists, etc to show you the different treatment you would show to humans and animals. You're saying it's ok to kill a homeless dog for being a nuisance to society. Answer this: is it ok to kill a homeless person for being a nuisance to society? You're saying stray dogs should be killed because they may spread diseases. Answer this: should we then kill all HIV carriers? Aren't we all God's creatures with beating hearts that keep us alive? Why do you find it ok to just kill a homeless dog, but not a homeless person?

To Encik Amir,

After going through this blog and reading from both MDDB and your comments,I tend to believe you have very valid points. I also believe you are not here to condemn the this group and are looking for valid answers.

I have read the comments by supporters of MDDB and they didn't really refute your statements other than shower you with "balls, prick, eat shit and die, etc". So you needn't really add more to this blog. For an organization with high morals, they should not behave as such.

To MDDB, as far as what Encik Amir said in regards to the rehoming issue, just realize he actually approves what you are doing, but he probably wants to know how you intend to use releasing as a solution and in regards to your statements on calling dog catchers murderers and asking them to stop catching dogs?

Encik Amir,in this blog titled "THE ARSEHOLE CHRONICLES" the original writer has shown that he or she has shown "the higher than thou" attitude in the first place so don't bother with any rebuttles.

Reading your comments have made me realize that you are a well educated person who is probably in public health and really understand the situation and issues of animal management in our country. So I hope you'll continue your work for the good of our country.

And by the way, to Ms Lana, I don't think Encik Amir hates dogs from what he writes. Also why are you looking down on the fact that he and his friends donated RM 30 or even RM 1? The fact that they donated to your cause should be good enough right?

Regards

Concerned

Amir's main problem is his inability to articulate his thoughts. He rambles and whatever he is trying to say is lost. I am an ardent follower of this blog and know what MDDB's views on TNR are. Its not what Amir assumes. Amir assumes too much. My advise to Amir would be for him to collect his thoughts first before writing his comments. I am also suspicious that Amir, Concerned and Canon SLR are none other than Anthony Thanasayan. I am also disabled and am a member of a society. I can vouch that 90% of the disabled community here are not in good terms with him. He has proven to be selfish and resorts to threats and abuses. The only disabled people he gets along with is a couple from Rawang. Theirs is a relationship based on using each other.Anthony is not a honest person and plagiarises other writers' work for his weekly column in The Star. He has been caught doing this many times. He boasts about helping the disabled and aged in his blog but yet treats his mother shodily.Recently he sent in a letter condemning another disabled person who was in the running to be appointed as MPBJ councillor. That's what he is really good in.

Hi, firstly i applaud your efforts in rescuing stray dogs and finding good homes for them. I have 4 dogs who were rescued off the street. One of them, Bianca passed away recently and she is sorely missed by the whole family. I also agree that the dog catching methods employed are inhumane and putting stray dogs down an unnecessary cruelty. To those of you who are looking for a pet, pls make adopting a rescued dog your first option instead of getting a pedigree from a shop. ↲
May i also suggest that we refrain from using abusive language as this will reflect badly on animal lovers if we have to resort to name calling. Thanks. ↲

Anthony Thanasayan must be stopped. He has created havoc in our disabled community and most of what he does is for his own benefit. He has used his disability to create a lot of problems for many individuals and organisations. Just call the Council of Churches and ask what he had done. It will shock you. Call all the other disabled organisations and they'll tell you who Anthony Thanasayan really is.

Why do you always think that if someone disagrees with you or are asking you real questions, Wani Muthiah, if what Canon SLR says who you are is true, it's automatically Anthony, his crony, this Thiba Rajoo or some female lackey? I even checked on UPM to find out if there was a TNRealease project done there and the answer was YES.

If you are the same Wani Muthiah who is a writer for The Star, and I DO think so after searching your name, shouldn't you have some sort of ethics in journalism?

I AM Mohd Amir, and I am not writing on behalf of SPCA, Petpositive or MPK! I am writing on behalf of those you have labelled "the bird brains or idiots" in your posts:

"I also think that those who should be put to sleep are 'the neighbours/ humans (i dun know if they're fit to be called one) who complaints every time they see a dog/dogs, some ppl just can't stand the sight of dogs and i would use all their energy to file complaints, i'd understand if they are being chased/bitten by dogs but some ppl just have deep hatred for dogs or maybe they have been bitten by a dog before and put their hatred towards all dogs. Worse still are ppl who complaints about dogs poo in their compound/garden/courtyard and so on. For god's sake, just shut your mouth and pick up the shit. At least that excrement smells better than ur foul smelling breath. They have the energy to complaint but can't bend down and pick up the poo?

Well maybe they're just a bunch of bird brains, oooppsss sorry birds are smarter than these idiots!"

So this is really who you are? I started writing on MDDB to understand your stance on certain MDDB issues and I even raised some of my own. I and some others were cursed by you and maybe some your supporters because of that.
Instead of trying to educate or explain to us other Rakyat who come in to understand MDDB, we are the "idiots" now?

You will hear from me again!

1) This is a blog and not a newspaper or a magazine - so, what's this about journalism? Stop making stupid statements.

2) The comments you are ranting and raving about was written by Mandy. She's very real. She has a right to her opinion just like how you have yours.

3) This blog is not moderated. Don't be so stupid to insist that it is. Removed by author means removed by the person who made the comment. Rescue has removed an earlier comment and posted a second one.

Stop being so stupid.

Please keep your comments coming. We are all being entertained by it. A special request, can you post more than one comment at a time please? They are so humorous that we can't get enough of em.

I will take it that the writer IS Wani Muthiah from The Star since there is no indication above that it's not.

To Wani Muthiah of The Star and MDDB,

So your position is that lies or deviation from the truth is allowed in a blog but not in a magazine or newpaper? And as a reporter in a reputable local newspaper you are OBLIGATED to be impartial but you can spread lies in your blog?

Sounds to me that you are acting like a policeman upholding the law in the daytime and rape, rob and victimise innocent people at night because you're not on company time?

"Ranting and Raving?" Carefully read all the replies in your blog compared to what I or any other person had written. Clearly, Wani, it is YOU, who is "Ranting and Raving". And by your "Ranting and Raving", it has shown that you are afraid to answer the questions posed to MDDB or simply do not know how to.

I believe, if I ask any other NGO's operating today, I could get answers from them. Why not your's? You want people to support your cause but cannot give them the specifics to it? That's just like giving money to a conman and accepting a "Trust me and don't worry, your money will be well spent".

I have written with and open mind, to ascertain what MDDB's role, agenda and solutions is other than "MDDB's plea is to not kill stray dogs". And what does MDDB suggest then? Other that accusing me of being other people and cursing me, did Wani or any of you REALLY answer me?

Lastly, I am not a blogger and have never participated in any blogs before. So calling me stupid because I'm not as savvy in blogging procedures is uncalled for don't you think?

Searching for the REAL TRUTH,

Amir
