Expedite probe into poodle abuse, dept urged

PETALING JAYA: A Selangor-based canine welfare project wants the Department of Veterinary Services to expedite its investigations into the alleged abuse of a toy poodle which made headlines recently.
Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) coordinator Christine Lai said the public was getting impatient with the delay.
“We have received countless queries from the public who want to know if investigations are really being carried out,” said Lai.
People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (Peta) Asia-Pacific chapter has collected information and given it to the department and police for quick action, she added.
Lai said the incident had put the state of animal welfare in the country in a bad light.
Independent rescuer Ruth Chow said the department should not delay any longer.
MDDB volunteers and supporters had lodged 15 police reports at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters on Jan 26.

Cops unable to identify man in dog abuse video

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have reached a dead end in their investigations into the man who was caught on tape using brute force on a poodle
Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin said they were not able to identify the man in the video.
He added that unless police received new leads or tip-off from the public, they might not be able to identify the man.
The Bukit Aman CID was tasked to investigate the case.
A video of the man abusing the dog raised the ire of canine lovers who began a nationwide hunt to identify him.
In the widely-circulated video, the unidentified man, believed to be a Malaysian, is seen using brutal force on a poodle to get the dog to stand up on its hind legs.
The Facebook user who uploaded the 15-minute video said she had discovered it in a thumbdrive which she had found in a Kuala Lumpur shopping mall.

Why can't they get hold of Doreen instead? I'm sure Doreen can identify the man in the video. Looks like they are not looking into the case seriously!
