ADOPTION DRIVE
AS part of his animal welfare initiative, Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng will be hosting a canine adoption drive at his service center this Sunday. The adoption drive will feature dogs and puppies rescued by canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB). Those wanting to donated dog and cat food, shampoo, rice, bleach and soap can also drop them off at the venue.

CANINE welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will have its monthly adoption drive at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya tomorrow (Sunday, Oct 16).
More than25 puppies and dogs will be put up for adoption at the event.

ADOPTION DRIVE
Puppy already adopted - being used as a model onlyCanine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will hold an adoption drive in Klang this Sunday.
The adoption drive will be held at DAP Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan's service center 7A, Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Klang which is located between the Klang traffic police contingent headquarters and Hin Hua High School.
The adoption drives which is between 11.30am to 5.30pm will have more than 20 dogs and puppies.MDDB adoption coordinator Chrstine Lai said they had to have the additional adoption drive because MDDB had rescued over 20 puppies this week alone.
"Many people had alerted to us stray puppies found in many parts of Klang,'' said Lai.
She added that there would also be some adult dogs for adoption.
Those wanting to donate things to the canine welfare project can bring the things to the adoption drive. MDDB needs. dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, dog and cat shampoo, bleech, towels, old newspapers and washing soap.

ROCKY a.k.a The Rockster, the three-legged wonder dog, has many important and interesting people as friends and one of them is Miss World Malaysia 2009 Thanuja Ananthan.
Thanuja met Rocky when she learnt of him from the person who had rescued him from Batu Caves almost a year ago.
“I visited Rocky several times at the veterinary clinic where he was undergoing treatment and became one of his admirers,’’ said Thanuja.
Rocky suffered severe nerve damage to his right front limb due to an accident and had to undergo amputation of that limb.
He has also been vaccinated and neutered.
Rocky has been in the custody and care of canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) since his discharge several months ago.
Thanuja, who added that Rocky will always have a place in her heart, is also hoping that he’ll find a good home soon.
“He deserves a family that will love and care for him and I hope he’ll get adopted soon,’’ said Thanuja.
Rocky, who is slightly over a year-old, will be one of the dogs at the MDDB adoption drive at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya this Sunday.
The adoption drive from 11.30am to 7.30pm will be held at Block NB1, facing Station 1 and Old Town White Coffee.
Meanwhile, MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai Rocky appears to be oblivious of his dissability.
“He runs like the wind and can be very full of himself.
“If he were a human being, he would most probably be a pompus, self-opinionated and self-admiring individual,’’ said Lai with laugh.
She added those wanting to donate things to the canine welfare project can bring the things to the adoption drive.
“We need dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, dog and cat shampoo, bleech, towels, old newspapers and washing soap,’’ said Lai.

TEDDY, STLL LOOKING FOR A HOMEIT’S GOING to be puppies galore at the canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) adoption drive at the Summit shopping complex in Subang Jaya this Sunday.
The event which starts at 11.30am and ends at 7.30pm, at the Summit’s main entrance, will see about 25 puppies being put-up for adoption.
MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai said the puppies that would be up for adoption were rescued from Klang, Petaling Jaya and Cheras.
“We have many more, apart from the 25 we will be bringing to Summit, that’s being cared for by our fosterers,’’ said Lai.
She said there would also be several young dogs between nine months to two years that will be put-up for adoption at the drive in Summit.
According to Lai the older dogs have all been neutered, vaccinated and given all the necessary treatment.
MDDB is a canine rescue project initiated by non-governmental organization Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).
Meanwhile, CDII director Firoza Burhanudeen said MDDB urgently needed funds for the treatment of several canines including a few accident victims.
“We have a high number dogs undergoing treatment in several veterinary clinics and one of them is accident victim James Dean a.k.a Hernia Boy who recently underwent surgery for diaphragmatic hernia.
“The cost for the surgery is quite high as his organs had to be repositioned in their right place,’’ said Firoza adding that those who wanted to help can visit the MDDB blog at www.malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.com for details.
James Dean is currently being treated at a veterinary clinic in Petaling Jaya.
MDDB also needs puppy food urgently and these can be dropped off at the adoption drive at Summit. Other items urgently needed include dry and canned dog, cat and kitten food, rice, bleech, washing soap and dog shampoo.

This time around Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan has generoulsy offered to host the adoption drive at his service center. More than 15 puppies and 10 adult dogs - which have all been spayed - will be up for adoption at the event. Please pass this around as some of the dogs have been with us for months. REALISING that there are far too many dogs and puppies looking for a home, DAP’s Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan has stepped in once again to help canine welfare project Malaysia Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) to hold its adoption drive.
The drive held at his service centre from 11.00am to 6.00 pm on Sunday, March 27 will see about 10 dogs and 15 puppies that are in urgent need of adoption.
Manoharan’s service centre is at No 7A, Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Klang and is located between the Klang traffic police contingent headquarters and Hin Hua High School.
The assemblyman says he will continue helping MDDB with its adoption drives in Klang because he understand the problem the organisation is facing.
“I know that there are too many puppies and dogs that are homeless and I appreciate MDDB’s efforts in finding them homes,’’ he said.
Manoharan urged members of the public to adopt rather than buy pets because this would give homes to the unfortunate puppies and dogs.
Meanwhile, MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai thanked Manoharan for his generosity and said she hoped more elected representatives would come forward to help with adoption drives.

There's a 7Eleven in the row and an Indian Muslim restaurant called Restoran Firdaus at the other end. There will be a tent at the service center where the adoption drive is being carried out.)

Canines need permanent homes and loving owners
MANY say dogs are men’s best friend due to their loyalty and the love they show to their owners.
With this in mind, canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) is starting the year by having three adoption drives in January.
The first leg starts at Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan’s service center in Klang followed by another adoption drive at MDDB’s regular spot in Summit Subang Jaya.
The consecutive drive would be held at Jaya One in Petaling Jaya, said adoption coordinator Christine Lai.
Among the dogs featured in MDDB’s January adoption drives are Carli, Lulu. Beauty and Queen.
“All four dogs have been vaccinated, dewormed and neutered,’’ said Lai.
Carli was rescued with her sister Carla in Kapar, whilst Pretty was found near the Klang Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital.
“Lulu had followed a MDDB member home and Queen had been with us for the last year and a half,’’ said Lai.
She said Queen had been born to a mother that was only six to seven months old and had various complications while she was a pup.
“She was really sick and had skin problems but she has healed and is ready for a human family,’’ she added.
Lai said those wanting to make donations to MDDB and its feline welfare counterpart Malaysian Cats Care Project (MCCP) can also drop off items at the venue.

Canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will be holding two simultaneous adoption drives on Sunday, Nov 14.
•1) 11am-7pm, Summit Subang Jaya, main entrance
•2) 10am-4pm, Rumah Seni dan Kraf Gemilang, Oakleaf Highland Country Club, Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang.
The adoption at the second venue is in conjunction with a one day art boot camp aptly named Art is Enterprising which will attended by a pool of visual artistes of various genres.
Those wanting to donate can also drop their contributions off at the venue. MDDB needs dry/canned dog and cat food, old newspapers, dog and cat shampoo, old towels, rice, cages, detergent and bleach.
T-shirts donated by footwear company Crocs will also be on sale for RM35 each to raise funds for MDDB’s cat chapter Malaysian Cats Care Project (MCCP).
