I could only feed tens of them after work but it left a lasting impression on me, how cruel and selfish the Miri-Lutong rich town folks were. Rescued a couple of dogs and flew them home to KL but had to leave the rest behind.

But what was most heart wrenching was the attitude of one private Vet. A stray dog had been hit and left to die near a coffee shop in the hot sun. There were tens of people having lunch close by, it was impossible not to notice the immobilized, panting and suffering dog.

By the time one of my colleagues informed me, she was already paralysed with a swollen head. Brought her to the Vet who I had recently spent more than Rm800 to treat some of the stray dogs I was feeding. She refused to even look at this paralysed dog which I brought her clinic. You know what she said? Please get the dog out of my clinic before the other dog owners got scared of the paralysed stray dog which had a serious case of mange. The vet was more worried about loosing business than treating the poor dog. I understand she graduated from UPM. I never use her service again.

I cared for the paralysed dog for 2 days but was advised by my Vet in KL to have euthanised to put her out of her misery. When I took her to the MIRI vet dept, the first thing they said was "did you knock her down?" They could not believe that a Samaritan would take the trouble to care for an injured stray dog and carried her around from Lutong to Miri for 3 days trying to put an end to her misery to no avail. Finally after getting thru all the nonsense, they admitted that they had not euthanised any hit-and-run dog (victim) before. It was only after I had pleaded with the Resident Staff Vet in his lush office (after waiting more than an hour for him to arrive) that they finally agreed to euthanize the poor dog and charge me for it. As I reached out my wallet to pay, the Resident Vet must have felt embarrassed and waved his hand to his staff to waive off the charge on condition that I disposed of the dead body. After the dog finally passed, I brought it back to Lutong for burial.

So I am not surprised at your story. Still I am very sad. This is the first time I come across your organization. I am banking in some money into your account right away. If you are in need of more funds, can you please let me have more details of your organization and work you do to help these poor animals.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420805718552473105.post-19635062604343698492010-07-01T22:33:32.796-07:002010-07-01T22:33:32.796-07:00How appalling that the poor dog lost his live due ...How appalling that the poor dog lost his live due to people's ignorance and just by sending the dog to the clinic a live could have been saved and this is only one of such sad/cruel cases that we may know of and hundreds or thousands more cases that we are not aware. But all things can be changed if only 'we' pay more attention to these poor beings and we can truly make a difference just by doing our part and not turn a blind eye the next time! RIP doggie and shame on those who came across this dog but did not anything to help!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420805718552473105.post-46047269235516221252010-07-01T19:30:07.747-07:002010-07-01T19:30:07.747-07:00Post it to The Star so that more people are aware ...Post it to The Star so that more people are aware that they should help or at least call the authorities who will help if and when they come across such cases. Not many people know of organisations like MDDB. I remembered I called up bomba (animal rescue department) of a dog in distress along the MRR2 highway (poor dog was there for at least 2 days) but was told by one chap that they don't do rescue and ask me rescue the dog myself!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420805718552473105.post-49521601264995383892010-07-01T18:55:31.238-07:002010-07-01T18:55:31.238-07:00I am truly shocked too. Anyone who has seen this dog lying there helplessly and still alive choose not to do anything to me is seen as cruel and heartless person. They should all be ashamed of themselves including those people who run their business there.
It is so similar to KTM case. When will we ever wake up to compassion? Malaysians shame on you!!delsantonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420805718552473105.post-51085640155172193952010-07-01T18:43:05.451-07:002010-07-01T18:43:05.451-07:00May you in a better place now poor boy...
